Venue & accessibility

RAREfest18 and the Guildhall will cater for the needs of all our participants, including those with specific accessibility requirements or disabilities.

QUIET hour on Saturday
10:00 until 11:00

Quiet hour is for those who need an environment with less noise, fewer visuals and a slower pace (and their families). Our exhibition can be accessed before we open to the public during this time before speakers and the film festival begin. We’ll dim lighting and sound, restrict numbers, and all exhibition stand holders will be awareness trained.  Tickets for Quiet Hour must be pre-booked via Eventbrite.

There are car parks nearby at The Grand Arcade, Park Street and Queen Anne. If your car displays a disability badge you can use the reserved spaces in either car park. There are also a limited number of designated free on-street parking spaces in Guildhall Street, Hobson Street, Jesus Lane, Kings Parade, Peas Hill, Regent Street, St Andrews Street and Church Street. Alternatively, all ‘Pay and Display’ and residents’ parking bays are free if you are a blue badge holder.

You can contact Cambridgeshire County council on 01223 717111 for further information or check their website for further information about free blue badge parking.

Accessibility ENTRANCES

ENTRy OPTION For wheelchair, powerchair and mobility scooter users

Peas Hill entrance

The Level access entrance is on Peas Hill where there is a lift to the Halls where RAREfest is being held.  This entrance is just left of the Tourist Information Centre entrance.

There is a fairly long corridor from this lift to the Halls. The Peas Hill entrance is accessible by car/taxi for drop off.

ENTRY option For those with requiring lift access/less walking

Guildhall Street entrance

There is also a lift on the Guildhall  Street side of the building (opposite the side of ‘Yo Sushi’) but there are 4 steps from street level.

If you can manage a few steps but not walk a long distance, we suggest you come to the Guildhall Street side as opposed to Peas Hill as when exiting the lift, the entrance to the Halls is closer.
